PS2 • PART 1: WIRE FABRICATION AND FIBER REINFORCEMENT (TWO-PART COURSE)
Friday, Feb. 19 9:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
PART 1: WIRE FABRICATION
Don Edsall, Ivy Steel and Wire Walter Davic, Penntech Industrial Tools Inc.
Concrete is very strong in compression but very weak in tension, and it behaves differently when properly reinforced. Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR) is commonly used as concrete reinforcement throughout the construction industry because of its high product strength and inherent laborsaving properties. This segment will discuss how to convert rebar and design into welded wire and also touch on cage and mesh fabrication machinery, techniques and applications. New innovations in wire mesh production systems will also be described.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize when and how to use welded wire in precast projects
- Convert a rebar design into a welded wire design
- Recognize wire cage fabrication techniques and applications
- Determine wire mesh fabrication machinery options
