WRIGLEY MANSION TOUR WITH LUNCH
Saturday, Feb. 20 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
This is the "House that Chewing Gum Built." The mansion dominates the crest of a 100-foot solid rock hill and presides over the green neighborhoods of the Arizona Biltmore. It has over 16,850 square feet of floor space and 1,584 square feet of terraces, yet it is the smallest of the family's five manors. The sprawling white building with red Spanish bar tile roof embraces elements of Spanish colonial revival, California Monterey and Mediterranean architecture. It boasts 24 rooms with 17 bathrooms, and eleven fireplaces, each of which attests to the mansion?s individual character and special charm.
William Wrigley Jr., chewing gum magnate and owner of the Chicago Cubs, built the home in Phoenix in 1931 as a gift for his wife, Ada. Named "La Colina Solana," the sunny hill, the mansion served as the family's winter home for six to eight weeks a year for over 40 years.
